- ➤ Coopers Rock Foundation’s WinterFest is set for Feb. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pavilion No. 1, offering snow activities like cross country skiing and sledding if the weather allows & non-snow fun including disc golf, a frying pan toss contest, and a rock maze hike. Morgantown Magazine

- ➤ The Division of Student Life invites faculty, staff, and local residents to help international students feel at home by donating essential items to HomeStart Closet in Stalnaker Hall. Items include blankets, comforters, Twin XL dorm sheets, and pots & pans. West Virginia University
- ➤ Val Pratt, a business clerk at the Parking Management Office, is featured in the February Classified Staff Showcase. The Newburg native joined WVU in 2009 and has managed campus parking areas since transitioning to the clerk role in 2020 (demonstrating her continued dedication) while serving faculty, staff, students and visitors. - ➤ A warming shelter opened on Dec. 15, 2025, at Bartlett Housing Solutions, 10 West Run Road, run by the West Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness to safeguard unhoused people from winter’s cold. - ➤ The Monongalia County Commission met Tuesday in Morgantown and approved routine financial matters while recognizing National School Counseling Week — officials also received updates on winter road safety and economic development. WV News
- ➤ Lawmakers introduced House Bill 5194 that bans calculators and math devices in K-8 classrooms statewide; the bill, introduced Wednesday by Delegates Canterbury and Cooper, was sent to the Committee on Education for review. WDTV
