CULTURE NEWS

  • WVU School of Theatre and Dance will present its flagship production + Dance Now! featuring student and faculty choreography from Feb. 5-7 at the Canady Creative Arts Center.  WV News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Morgantown Public Library System unveiled a facilities plan that uses community feedback to guide future projects like renovating branches and creating shared-use spaces—immediate priorities include funding assessments and partnership searches across county districts.  The Dominion Post
  • WVU's interim director, Kyle Shatto, plans to reform Greek Life by strengthening safety measures — introducing an accreditation system and requiring reporting from chapters. He joined in October 2025 and will boost membership engagement and prevent hazing across campus.  The Daily Athenaeum
  • WVU School of Nursing is partnering with Johns Hopkins University to launch a new nursing track focused on community clinical experience starting Fall 2026. Selected nursing students will split time between classroom learning and hands-on placements at local schools & health sites.  WVU Today
  • WVU’s High-Performance Computing department will host a workshop on Feb. 11 and Feb. 13 at the Downtown Library Complex – Room 136 focused on machine learning, big data analytics, and deep learning techniques.   • A major winter storm will impact Morgantown this weekend, bringing heavy snow and dangerously cold weather. City officials urge residents to prepare for hazardous travel — updated forecasts and advisories are expected as the storm approaches.  WV News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Environmental Health and Safety team has moved the injury/incident report online through Campus Optics to simplify reporting. Employees must submit their reports within 24 hours of any incident (accessible by phone or computer).  West Virginia University

SPORTS NEWS

  • Garrett Ford Sr. made a lasting mark on WVU football as a player, coach, and administrator for 44 years before he passed away Dec. 14, 2025. A memorial ceremony in Morgantown is expected the week of the blue vs. gold game to honor his legacy.  WDTV
  • The University High boys basketball team defeated Buckhannon-Upshur 67-55 on Baker’s Ridge Wednesday night with four players scoring in double figures. Senior Glenn Brown + junior Luke Byrer led a key run in the second quarter that put the Hawks ahead for good.  The Dominion Post
  • Morgantown High defeated University 66-39 after building a 19-6 lead and rallying with strong defense, completing a regular season sweep on Dec. 10 at Bakers Ridge. Freshman guard Madison Ancell scored 25 points (with a crucial 9-0 run) to spark the comeback.  MetroNews
