- ➤ The City of Morgantown is hosting a winter coat drive to collect clean, new, or gently used coats for local social service agencies until February 5. Donations can be dropped off at City Hall, the History Museum, the Downtown Public Safety Building, the Wiles Hill Community Center, and at all three fire stations. WDTV

- ➤ On Saturday, Jan. 17, the Center for Black Culture will host the Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Breakfast in the Mountainlair Ballroom from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.—Jack S. Monell will serve as keynote. - ➤ The Art Museum of WVU will launch its spring season with an opening reception featuring two new exhibitions (Soft/Cover and Material Matters) on Friday, Jan. 30 in Morgantown. WV News

- ➤ The Department of Education reported progress on the Third Grade Success Act Tuesday — new coaching models have improved reading and math skills in classrooms, while a Harvard and Stanford study noted significant gains in national rankings. MetroNews
- ➤ Morgantown’s Faculty Learning Community will support local faculty developing teaching projects for conferences, journals, and publications, with meetings held every two weeks in Morgantown + remote connection available. - ➤ Your Community Foundation has opened applications for over 45 scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year, including new Peluso+Viglianco awards for local students; applications are accepted now. WV News
