- ➤ United Way of Mon & Preston Counties has signed a contract with Morgantown Community Resources to manage Hazel’s House of Hope and named Dr. Jessica Thompson as Director of Operations; the agency will handle daily operations while the owner stays involved in planned improvements. WDTV
- ➤ Sierra Club WV hosted Quilting for Community on Jan. 7 at The Co-Op on Pleasant Street + neighbors gathered to explore how art can spark climate action. Future biweekly sessions will build connections and creativity in the community. The Dominion Post

- ➤ Middle school students from Huff Consolidated (the only WV school in the semi-finals) advanced in Samsung's Solve for Tomorrow contest by creating an affordable water purification system to address local water quality issues; the team of 15 competes nationwide for a $10,000 prize package and mentorship.
