COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, the Monongalia County Center hosted its first winter farmers market of 2026 where local vendors offered homegrown produce + shared tips on growing techniques. The market is held every other Saturday, with the next event scheduled for Jan. 17.  WDTV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Defensive lineman Will LeBlanc, a 3-star transfer from UT-Permian Basin, committed to WVU on Jan. 2. The 6-foot-5 player recorded 32 tackles last season and now adds needed size for Coach Rich Rodriguez’s team with three years of eligibility remaining.  The Dominion Post
  • WVU women’s basketball remains unbeaten in Big 12 play as the team faces Kansas State today in Manhattan, aiming for a second straight road win (the Mountaineers hit a season-high 13 three-pointers in their last game).  The Dominion Post
  • The Morgantown girls basketball team defeated Nitro 70 to 52 at the Rowdie Center on Saturday. Junior Brenna Nelson led with 20 points as the Mohigans outscored Nitro 25 to 8 in the fourth quarter, improving to 7 to 2 ahead of a Tuesday 7:30 p.m. game against Parkersburg.  The Dominion Post
  • WVU fell 80-59 to Iowa State as the team struggled to secure rebounds without day-to-day forward Brenen Lorient (a key scorer averaging 10.7 points per game). Coach Ross Hodge said extra second-chance points cost the Mountaineers in the loss.  The Dominion Post
