  • After operating for over 70 years, Fruth Pharmacy closed all its locations in West Virginia and Ohio by December 3 following a November sale to Walgreens. Pharmacists worry the loss may create pharmacy deserts & force more residents to rely on mail order prescriptions.  MetroNews
  • West Virginia Coal Association President Chris Hamilton reflected on 2025 as a challenging year marked by mining accidents where three miners died — he stressed that improved safety measures and the return to production at sites like the restarted Leer South Mine are critical for the future.  MetroNews

HEALTH NEWS

  • The West Virginia Department of Health is hiring experienced leaders to manage a $199 million rural healthcare initiative & improve access for local residents. Officials said the new program will use the funding to expand services and support community health in rural areas.  MetroNews

  • University High wrestler Max Fortier won the 172-pound title on Tuesday at the Powerade Wrestling Tournament after defeating top-seeded Gage Wentzel of Montoursville & he credited his focused mental strength for his winning streak.  The Dominion Post
